About Us

Our Mission

  1. Start from the ground up – We try to keep very little or no requirements for our learning materials so that everyone can find them useful.
  2. Focus on holistic learning; cover all aspects – Tutorials often leave gaps in the knowledge of learners. We try to keep our content as complete as possible without being overwhelming.
  3. Go beyond the language – Learning the syntax and features of the language is not enough. Best practices, techniques, problem-solving strategies are some of the other things that a developer needs in their toolbox.
  4. Learning by doing – We believe people learn concepts better through hands-on exercises. That is why our articles are reproducible and we encourage readers to replicate our steps and experiment on their own.
  5. Always provide updated information – When learning, it is a frustrating experience to find a promising learning resource and then realise that it is a victim of software rot. We make sure that our articles always work and if they don’t, we fix things at a moment’s notice.
  6. Provide exemplary service to the V community – V has been one of the friendliest and most welcoming communities. We wish to empower this community with high-quality resources which they can utilise to further bolster the reputation of V.
  7. Help the V Programming Language grow by providing a suitable environment to attract talented, valuable contributors to the project.

Our Team

Lead Instructor

Subhomoy Haldar is the lead instructor and a co-founder of Mastering V.

He has a Master of Science degree in Mathematics and Computing. He wrote about the performance and quality of random number generators in the V programming language in his thesis in early 2022. This complements his role as an official developer for V, where he has contributed to ‘rand’, ‘math.big’ and other modules in the V standard library.

Subhomoy used to be a polyglot and enjoyed experimenting with various novel languages before settling on V. Besides programming and research, he enjoys graphic design, and watching professional CS:GO in his free time.

You can find more about him on his website, or follow him on Twitter for personal and professional updates.

Co-Founders and Team

Subhomoy is not the only person behind Mastering V. There is a dedicated team of kind folks who have borne the cost of hosting for the project and also dedicate a lot of effort to the upkeep of the website, and ensuring accuracy and relevance of the content.

The benefactors share the co-founder status with Subhomoy.
